About this topic
This is a website for research to understand the sort of stories that young people in Timor-Leste like. It has been created by two Australia university lecturers who work at University of Technology Sydney who are interested in the sorts of stories young people like to read or watch on video and television. This information can be used to help us write books for young people in Timor-Leste. About the researchers Dr Marie has worked for many years in Timor-Leste in education. Dr Don is an expert in school reading. In the past we were secondary school teachers. Now we research about schools and students. We have created a survey to ask students in Secondary School in Timor-Leste about what they like to read and what they like to watch on DVD or television. This is approved by the UTS Ethics Committee, Project ETH21-6209. The Ministério da Educação RDTL has approved this project.

About the Survey
Some details
We have made a survey for students at Secondary School in Timor-Leste and who between 15 and 20 years. It is completely voluntary and you do not need to participate. The survey will take you about 15 – 20 minutes to complete. If you don’t want to answer a question, just use that option or leave the question blank. We will only use what you submit at the end of the survey. The survey is in Tetum, but you can give answers in Tetum, Portuguese, Indonesian or English. You can stop the survey at any time and leave. What we do with the responses
We will use the information to write reports, articles or books about what young people in Timor-Leste like and don’t like, but not about you, personally. We might also use the information as part of other research or for focus groups, but never about you, personally. |
Your privacy
For this survey, we do not need to know your name and we will not be able to identify you. We ask about your school, age and gender just to help us understand the information better. Your opinions are important and interesting to us, so please answer what is true for you! You can share your answers with your friends, but it is OK to keep them private and just tell us. Because it is on the internet, the answers come straight to us in Australia, not to your school or community or anyone in Timor-Leste. |
